Officials have not yet released any additional details regarding the domestic dispute that left a woman dead in College Township Sunday, but Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller said the case is being investigated as a potential homicide.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute Sunday morning that led to a shooting and the death of the as-yet unidentified woman, according to a State College police press release.

The dispute, reported to police as an incident between a husband and wife, occurred at about 10 a.m. at 310 Gregor Way. The husband of the deceased woman was at the scene waiting for police to arrive, as was their 19-year-old son, according to the release.

Centre County Coroner, Scott Sayers and Parks Miller were contacted and also responded to the scene.

Sayers pronounced the woman dead and scheduled an autopsy.

This death is under investigation by the State College police, Centre County District Attorney’s Office and Centre County Coroner’s Office.

The identity of the deceased woman will not be released until additional family notifications are made. No additional information was forthcoming Sunday, and police were short on specifics that could be shared at the afternoon press briefing.

“The State College Police Department wants to assure the neighborhood residents that at no time was there any threat or danger to the neighborhood,” the release said.
