Challenger to Rep. Hanna reports more petition signatures

A McElhatten woman who is seeking the seat held by state Rep. Mike Hanna, D-Lock Haven, said Wednesday she obtained more nomination petition signatures than he did.

Stephanie Borowicz collected 821 signatures, while Hanna gathered 575, according to the Department of State website, she said in a statement.

The Republican candidate thanked voters for their backing.

“Their level of support is a clear indication that my message of limiting the amount of government intrusion in our daily lives, restoring fiscal responsibility in state government, lowering taxes for our families and seniors on fixed incomes, and creating more family-sustaining jobs is resonating with the voters.”

Borowicz and her husband, a pastor, have three children. She is a former teacher and president of a nonprofit group.

The legislative district covers Clinton and part of Centre counties.
