Penn State women’s hockey team announces additions to coaching staff

The Penn State women’s hockey team announced the hiring of two assistant coaches and a director of operations to first-year coach Jeff Kampersal’s staff on Friday.

Celeste Brown and Allison Coomey will serve as assistant coaches, and Chris Demczuk will be the director of operations.

Brown was an assistant coach at Connecticut College last season. She graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2015 after helping the program win the Division III national championship in 2012 and compete at the Division I level in College Hockey America.

Coomey worked as an assistant coach at Boston University for the past nine seasons as the Terriers reached the NCAA tournament six times and the national championship game twice.

“I am eager to work alongside Allison and Celeste,” Kampersal said in the release. “They are both humble and genuine people. Allison has a ton of experience and has worked with terrific mentors. I expect her to have a huge impact on decision-making and developing relationships. Celeste was heart and soul player in the CHA and played for a first-rate coach at RIT. She is full of energy and will be a culture changer.”

Demczuk spent the last four seasons working with the staff as a student and graduated from Penn State this past spring.
