Penn State women’s hockey advances to CHA semifinals

Amy Petersen finished with a goal and an assist and Penn State continued its playoff march.

The Nittany Lions advanced to the College Hockey America (CHA) Semifinals Saturday afternoon, defeating RIT 3-2 at Pegula Ice Arena. The hosts built a three-goal lead, shutting out the Tigers until early in the third period. The visitors scored twice to pull within one, but couldn’t get the equalizer past Nittany Lions’ goaltender Hannah Ehresmann. The Tigers exhausted their options, swapping goaltenders and eventually leaving their net open in favor of an extra attacker.

Petersen recorded her eighth goal of the season - the difference in the game - in the second period.

With the win, the No. 3-seeded Nittany Lions pulled off the weeekend sweep and head to Harbor Center in Buffalo, New York to play Syracuse on March 4.
