State College girls’ basketball seniors Jess Orndorf, Casey Witter, Abby Allen, Kyla Irwin and Allison Williams all took part in their last game in the State College High School gymnasium on Friday, and went out in style with a 55-40 comeback win over Harrisburg on Friday.

“We were down two at halftime and I told everyone they had to step it up,” State College coach Bethany Irwin said.

Taking the words to heart, Kyla Iwrin scored 13 points in the third quarter, Ellie Strauss came off the bench to snatch huge rebounds, point guard Kayla Hawbaker controlled the offense, and defensive specialist Witter helped lock down Harrisburg.

The Lady Little Lions finished the game out with a 16-point fourth quarter to secure the win.

Irwin led all scorers with 30 points, while Allen added 10.

“I call my group of seniors a bunch misfits because they don’t all play year-round,” Bethany Irwin said, “but they’ve been playing since fourth grade and they have the absolute best chemistry that I’ve seen in my 24 years of coaching.”

State College plays its next game at Mifflin County on Tuesday.
