Iconic '80s Pop-Rock Duo Announces Exciting 40th Anniversary Tour Update
Swedish pop-rock duo Roxette just announced an exciting tour update for its 40th anniversary.
On the heels of a "triumphant South American tour and with a European tour coming up this summer," the group revealed it will bring the "40th Anniversary Tour to North America this fall."
The tour will include "14 stops across the U.S. and Canada," including three stops in Texas (Dallas, Austin, Houston) and two in California (Concord and Los Angeles).
There's also a promise to play all of the group's number 1 Billboard hits from the '80s and '90s, including "The Look," "Listen to Your Heart," "It Must Have Been Love" and "Joyride."
Special guests will be Taylor Dayne and Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets.
Tickets go on sale Friday, May 29 at 10:00 AM local time via LiveNation.com.
Sweden's second-best-selling musical act, after ABBA, initially consisted of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. The former died in 2019 following complications from cancer, a few years after announcing her retirement from touring.
Gessle, who announced the reformation of the band on May 2, 2024, is now joined by Lena Philipsson, who took on lead vocals.
While a handful of comments on the social media post announcing the tour claimed that it "wasn't the same without Marie," other longtime fans quickly jumped, stating, "I'm sure Marie would agree that the most important thing is to keep all this music alive, stop complaining, stop comparing, praise the legacy!"
"I actually think Marie is sitting up there smiling a lot, and at the same time very proud.
Because Per and Roxette have chosen Lena to help sing the famous songs... to carry on Roxette's legacy," another expressed.
Another fan simply screamed, "US DATES!! BEST NEWS OF THE YEAR!!"
Few pop duos have matched the global success of Roxette, which dominated charts worldwide with tracks that went on to define an era.
They were recognized as the highest-certified acts of all time in Germany, but also saw smashing success in the U.S., receiving certifications totaling 3.5 million units from the RIAA.
Their soundtrack contribution to the hit film, Pretty Woman, further cemented their place in pop culture history, bringing their music filled with catchy melodies to a wider audience.
And years later, their catalog still resonates, as their hits continue to dominate airwaves across radio, streaming, and nostalgic playlists.
