Centre County best bets: Fun in the Snow at Black Mo, Valentine’s Day tasting and more

A day of snow sports and activities, a South Indian thanksgiving ceremony, an art collection and a Valentine’s weekend pairing will be coming to Centre County in the days ahead.

Fun In the Snow At Black Mo

Black Moshannon State Park will host its annual winter day outdoors called “Fun In The Snow At Black Mo” on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., complete with ice mini-golf, hiking, curling, sledding, ice skating and broomball — a Canadian sport similar to hockey. Snowshoes, skis and ice skates will be available to rent if conditions allow. More information can be found at the event’s Facebook page.

Pongal

Penn State’s Indian Culture and Language Club will host “Pongal,” a multi-day thanksgiving ceremony and festival celebrated in South India, on Sunday from 7:30-11:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall of the HUB-Robeson Center. It is free to the public and will offer games, authentic South Indian snacks and music provided by Medley Entertainment.

Wine & Chocolate Pairing

The Mount Nittany Vineyard & Winery will host a special event to try Mount Nittany’s wines and chocolate from Asher’s Chocolates, a candy store in Souderton. The pairing will be on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., and cost is $9.95 a person. More information can be found at https://www.mtnittanywinery.com/.

‘A Return to Order And Disorder’

Sue Uhlig, a doctoral candidate in art education at Penn State, has the second iteration of her “Between Order and Disorder” exhibit on display in the Borland Project Space through Feb. 27. The new exhibition is entitled “A Return to Order and Disorder” and will feature collections, second-hand furniture, books, auditory projections and more.
