Centre County best bets: Harlem Globetrotters, winter carnival, dance showcase and more
Welcome in March in the days ahead by checking out a world-famous exhibition basketball team, celebrating winter and the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birthday and more.
Harlem Globetrotters
The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will perform their new show, “Pushing the Limits,” Monday at the Bryce Jordan Center. A one-of-a-kind family-friendly experience, attendees will have the chance to see basketball skills like ball handling, high-flying dunks and a record-breaking attempt. ‘Dances of My Land’
The Penn State Society for Indian Music and Arts and Nritya will perform traditional Indian dance forms Sunday as part of their showcase entitled “Dances of My Land.” The show will celebrate the various classical dances of India through performances by Penn State students and members of the community. The show will run from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in Flex Theater (Room 132) of the HUB-Robeson Center. More information can be found at the event’s Facebook page.
Winter Carnival
The third annual Winter Carnival will return to Blue Spring Park Saturday, complete with crafts, games, snacks, fires and an ice rink. The free carnival will run from 3-5 p.m. and is open to people of all ages. More information can be found at https://www.crpr.org/special-events.
‘Beethoven 250’
The Nittany Valley Symphony will celebrate the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birthday Thursday at Eisenhower Auditorium with “Beethoven 250.” The concert will feature Steven Herbert Smith on the piano, as well as three pieces: “The Nine Symphonies of Beethoven” by Louis Andriessen, “Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15” by Beethoven and “Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major, Op. 60” by Beethoven.
