Natascha & The Spy Boys’ lead singer, Natascha Hoffmeyer, recently answered five Weekender questions about the band that plays multiple venues across central Pa.

Q: How long have you been playing?

A: J.T. (Thompson) and I started as a duo in 2009. Stubby Stubbs and Andy Tolins joined the Spy Boys in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Q: How do you describe your sound?

A: I’ve never liked being tied to just one genre in particular, so we play a variety of styles: predominantly blues, jazz, soul, swing ... with a little Tom Waits thrown in for good measure.

Q: Which musician — alive or dead — do you most wish you could share the stage with?

A: David Bowie.

Q: What’s your favorite song to play live?

A: Impossible to pick just one, as it changes from gig to gig. That said, it’s always fun to play the German original version of “99 Red Balloons.”

Q: Where can people hear your music?

A: We mostly play at different venues in central Pa: Zeno’s, Chumley’s, Cafe 210, Bullfrog Brewery, The State Theatre, Central Pa Festival of the Arts, First Night. Check our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ NataschaAndTheSpyBoys, for upcoming gigs.
