Kevin Briggs, of the local rock band Feats of Strength, recently answered five Weekender questions.

Q: How long have you been playing?

A: We have been playing together for about five years ... We were originally called Brad Fey and Friends, but after participating in a few challenge races with Jeremy and some other guys, we were called Brad Fey and The Feats of Strength. After a little while longer we dropped Brad’s name and just went with the Feats of Strength.

Q: How do you describe your sound?

A: We’re definitely a rock band, but we try to pull it off using acoustic instruments. Brad’s into classic rock ... so he brings a lot of that vibe. I’m into bluegrass, old-time, jam band and roots music in general, so I am always pushing in that direction. Jeremy loves old blues, like Slim Harpo and Mississippi John Hurt, so he adds a lot of depth in that way. When it’s all combined, we call it “Jeet Kune Do” music.

Q: Which musician — alive or dead — do you most wish you could share the stage with?

A:

Brad would go with Led Zeppelin or Pearl Jam in his never-ending quest to become either Robert Plant and/or Eddie Vedder. I’d say, hands down, for me it’s Bob Dylan, or maybe The Band ... Jeremy would prefer to sit next to Blind Willie McTell in a boxcar and play his harmonica while sipping on (and peddling) his family’s 150-year-old beer recipe.

Q: What’s your favorite song to play live?

A: We’re always trying our best to dial in our original music, so it’s definitely what gets the most attention. With that said, I’m not sure we have one favorite song to play. We have favorite moments within the songs, like when the structure starts to feel natural and effortless, and what we’re doing just starts to breath on its own.

Q: Where can people hear your music?

A: We play every other Friday at Happy Valley Brewery ... You will also find us this summer in some of Centre County’s great local festivals.
