FBI Launches Investigation After Offset Shot Outside Florida Casino

Cardi B's estranged husband, Offset, is recovering after being shot outside a casino in Florida.

A spokesperson for the former Migos rapper (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus) confirmed to Complex on April 6 that Offset was the victim of a shooting near the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

The Seminole, Florida police department later told Page Sixthat two people have been detained in connection with the violent incident. Law enforcement also indicated that no life-threatening injuries occurred.

Offset's hospitalization in Florida comes more than three years after his former Migos bandmate Takeoff was killed at age 28 in a fatal shooting in Houston, Texas. Takeoff (real name Kirsnick Khari Ball) was reportedly an innocent bystander struck in the crossfire during an argument at a high-stakes dice game.

Offset spoke out for the first time since the shooting on April 10, telling Us Weekly in a statement that he is "good … but I'm planning to be better."

Offset's Condition After Shooting

A spokesperson for Offset told Complex that the rapper was hospitalized in stable condition following the shooting in Hollywood, Florida.

"We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care," the rapper's rep said on April 6, 2026. "He is stable and being closely monitored."

On April 10, Offset's spokesperson confirmed to Us Weekly that he was out of the hospital.

"Offset has been released from the hospital, and he is up and walking," his rep told Us. "We're incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses and the entire hospital staff who took such great care of him."

What Has Offset Said About Being Shot in Florida?

Offset broke his silence in a statement to Us Weekly on April 10, assuring fans that he is on the road to recovery.

"Thank you to everyone who's checked in on me and showed me love! I'm good … but I'm planning to be better," he said. "I'm focused on my family, my recovery and getting back to the music … realizing that life is made up of quiet wins and loud losses … Life's a gamble, and I'm still playing to win."

What Have Police Said About Offset's Shooting?

A Seminole County, Florida, police spokesperson told Page Six on April 6, that two people have been detained and that no life-threatening injuries occurred.

"We are aware of an incident that occurred at a valet area after 7 p.m. Monday outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood that resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to an individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood," a police spokesperson told Page Six.

The police statement continued, "Seminole Police were on site immediately and the situation was contained quickly. Two individuals have been detained by police. The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure and there is no threat to the public. Operations continue as normal."

Cardi went public with her split from Offset in December 2023 and subsequently filed for divorce the following July.

During an October 2025 interview on the "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer" podcast, Offset admitted that he regretted the way his marriage to Cardi ended.

"I should have respected her way more. I made bad decisions, like stepping out," Offset told host Keke Palmer. "Gotta take that on the chin. When she left, I had to take that on the chin. … We got so much, our kids, to live for. I was being selfish, and I can say that as a man."

What Did Offset Say About Migos Bandmate Takeoff's Death?

Offset's Migos bandmate Takeoff was fatally shot in Houston, Texas, in November 2022. Takeoff (real name Kirsnick Khari Ball) attended a high-stakes dice game with his uncle and bandmate, Quavo, when gunfire reportedly erupted during an argument.

Patrick Xavier Clark was charged with Takeoff's murder in November 2022 and is awaiting trial, as of publication. He maintains his innocence.

More than 20,000 people attended Takeoff's public memorial at Atlanta's State Farm Arena in November 2022.

Offset told Variety in 2023 that he was still struggling to come to grips with Takeoff's murder.

"Talking about all this s*** is hard. That's why I don't, to be honest," he acknowledged. "That s*** hurts. Like, it's gonna put me in a mood, and I don't want to get in that mood. Some things I don't never tell nobody."

He went on, "[Takeoff is] not here. That s*** feels fake, bro. I get through my day thinking it's fake. And I don't say nothing to nobody about it."

FBI Launches Investigation

The FBI is seeking information into the shooting that left Offset injured and has released new photos showing vehicles and people allegedly involved. Per the FBI, a large group of people assaulted Offset, and one of them fired a single shot from a handgun that hit the rapper.

People unsuccessfully tried to steal Offset's watch before fleeing in two Chevrolet SUVs, the FBI said.
