What kind of home could $321K get you in Centre County now? Browse some recent sales

How much will $320,990 get you these days if you’re shopping for a house in the State College area?

That figure was the median home sale price in Centre County in December, according to the Centre County Association of Realtors’ most recent monthly market report. The county’s median home sale price is up approximately 15% year-over-year.

Prices and markets may vary throughout Centre County, but if you’re using the median sale price as your budget, what homes are out there? To answer that question and more, we’re featuring several homes in Centre County that recently sold for roughly the same price or below.

2398 Quail Run Road

Built in 1996, this single-family State College home sold for $304,000 in late January, according to Zillow. The property totals 1,233 square feet spread across three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a two-vehicle garage.

Located just off of West College Avenue in Ferguson Township, this home sits less than 2 miles away from Corl Street Elementary School and State College Area High School. The neighborhood, known as The Landings, is just steps away from Haymarket Park and as quick as a five-minute drive from downtown State College.

The home itself is a ranch-style house complete with an eat-in kitchen, a sunroom and an unfinished basement, among other typical amenities, according to its online listing. Recent improvements include a new roof, a new heating, ventilating and air conditioning system and new garage doors, Zillow says.

While this home does not feature an outdoor deck or patio, it does boast a spacious backyard that is shared with some neighboring properties.

436 Douglas Drive

This ranch-style home sold for $268,000 in State College in early January, according to its Zillow listing. The three-bedroom, one-bathroom house sits in Patton Township’s Park Forest Village neighborhood.

The home checks in with an official 992-square-foot floor plan, but it sits atop an unfurnished walk-out basement that stretches past 1,200 square feet, according to its online listing, which says the home has “lots of room for expansion.” It also boasts a one-car garage.

The property received some recent upgrades through a newly replaced heating system and a roof installed five years ago. The kitchen was renovated in 2002 before a new deck was installed in 2003, the listing says.

The home on Douglas Drive is located just off of North Atherton Street, which is home to Happy Valley favorites like Otto’s Pup and Brewery and the Original Waffle Shop. The neighborhood is within 4 miles of Park Forest Elementary School and State College Area High School.

Described online as a “nostalgic” home transformed to “capture the aura of yesteryear combined with today’s latest conveniences,” this Centre Hall property sold for $299,750 in early February. The three-story, single-family home boasts four bedrooms and two bathrooms, according to its Zillow page.

The home totals 2,942 square feet and features restored design features, including hardwood floors, wood trim and newly painted interior walls, according to its online listing. It also houses an outdoor porch, a remodeled kitchen and canning room, new cabinets and stainless steel appliances. Attached to the home is a two-car garage.

Recent upgrades to the home include updated laundry room plumbing systems, remodeled bathrooms and new cabinets, granite countertops and lighting fixtures.

The Pennsylvania Avenue home sits a stone’s throw away from Centre Hall Elementary School, while Penns Valley Area Jr./Sr. High School is about 10 miles down the road. It’s just a five-minute drive from the Grange Fairgrounds, which annually host Centre County’s beloved Grange Encampment and Fair.

680 Old 220 Road

While this remodeled two-story residence is located in Milesburg, it boasts a Bellefonte address, according to its Zillow page. The two-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom home sold for $215,000 in February.

The home totals 1,568 square feet and features a spruced-up interior complete with fresh paint and new flooring, its listing says. Focal points include a “massive living room,” a renovated kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a laundry room and a walk-in closet inside one of the second-floor bedrooms. The home also features a “bonus room” that could function as a dining room or mudroom at the house’s front.

Outdoors, the property comes with a fenced-in backyard, raised garden beds and a patio. A detached shed functions as a two-car garage, too.

Back in State College, this unique home sold for $254,500 in mid-February and evokes “a French country feel,” according to its Zillow page. Its online listing says it was designed by architect Herman H. York and once featured in Woman’s Day magazine.

The two-story home features a mansard roof, hardwood floors and an open concept on the first floor. The master bedroom boasts a sun deck that tops a covered deck below. The kitchen, meanwhile, has an old-school vibe complete with white and yellow cabinets and wall tile.

“This home would be ideal for someone who values quality construction, retro style and a unique property,” the home’s online listing reads.
