This week in history: Locals line up for first iPhone

On June 29, 1967, L.A. Garrison, of the National Park Service, dedicated the wetland colony of plants and wildlife known as Bear Meadows Bog as a national landmark as part of a three-day 60th anniversary celebration of the Penn State School of Forest Resources.
25 years ago
In June 1992, shooters from the Rockview state police, the Patton and Ferguson township police departments and the Pennsylvania Game Commission participated in a shootout for charity at Scotia Shooting Range in Halfmoon Township. The event raised more than $1,160 for the American Cancer Society.

On June 29, 2007, Centre County locals lined up outside of the area’s two AT&T stores as early as 5:30 a.m. in order to get their hands on Apple’s first run at the iPhone. By the time the gadget officially went on sale at 6 p.m. that day, there were about 40 people lined up outside of the Nittany Mall AT&T store.
