In July 1967, Gov. Raymond P. Shafer came to State College to help open the first Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts. His son, Philip, was taking part in a Festival Theatre production of “The Rose Tattoo.”

25 years ago

On July 2, 1992, Bill Clinton announced that he had chosen Al Gore to join him on the Democratic ticket as vice president. Sources within the search committee said that Clinton was looking for someone who shared his political values and had no skeletons in the closet.

10 years ago

On July 11, 2007, rain didn’t keep the crowds away from the opening day of Philipsburg Heritage Days. A few of the vendors had to close up shop but most were willing to stick out the storm.
