Snow Shoe celebrates its centennial with a 2-day party

50 years ago
September 1967 marked a record high enrollment for schools in Centre County, with 17,580 students expected to resume classes. That number was up by almost 1,000 pupils from the previous fall.
25 years ago
In September 1992, DC Comics announced that after more than 50 years of saving Metropolis, Superman would bite the dust in a grudge match against the otherworldly monstrosity known as “Doomsday.” DC Comics spokeswoman Martha Thomases said that the man of steel would stay dead at least through March 1993.

In September 2007, Snow Shoe residents were busy organizing a two-day party to celebrate the borough’s centennial. Festivities were to include a parade, square dancing and blue grass music.
