Netflix Losing Beloved Show With 98% Rotten Tomatoes Score
Netflix is the largest and most popular streaming service on the planet, and it has a massive library of movies, shows, documentaries, and specials. Unfortunately, however, not all of those titles can stay in the library forever.
This week, one beloved sitcom that earned a near-perfect 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes is set to leave Netflix this week, giving subscribers one last chance to watch it before it's gone.
What is 'Catastrophe'?
Written by Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney, who also play the starring roles in the series, Catastrophe is a British-Irish sitcom that explores marriage, parenthood, and their fundamental differences.
"During a business trip in London, an American named Rob meets Sharon, an Irish teacher with whom he shares incredible chemistry," the synopsis reads on Rotten Tomatoes. "While the two plan to have some fun with no strings attached, things go awry when Sharon learns she is pregnant. The unexpected news inspires the recent acquaintances to try and make it as a couple, despite nonstop complications that include hailing from different countries and a pregnancy that is not without risks."
The show, which originally aired from 2015 to 2019, has 24 episodes across four seasons.
Strong Reviews From Critics
Though the series only ran four seasons, it was incredibly well-received by critics, earning a near-perfect 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and has been nearly unanimously praised by critics.
"Catastrophe is hilarious, dirty, quick, and very satisfying - not unlike the sex lives of its protagonists," Slate wrote of the series.
"It takes every rom-com trope and wilfully, gleefully turns [them] on [their] head," TV Guide wrote.
"Comedy is bloody hard to do: which is why, when something as wonderfully funny as Channel 4's Catastrophe appears, it feels so very, very exciting," added The Independent.
The show has been a hit with casual viewers, too, earning a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Leaving Netflix
Unfortunately, Netflix subscribers do not have long to watch the show as it will soon be leaving the platform. The last day for subscribers to stream the show will be April 25, according to Digital Spy.
At that point, it will no longer be in the Netflix library, meaning fans of the show will have to find an alternative way to watch.
The good news is there will still be another way to stream the show even after it leaves Netflix, as all four seasons of the beloved sitcom are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
