Disney World Waterpark Typhoon Lagoon Remains Closed
One of Walt Disney World's two waterparks, Typhoon Lagoon, will remain closed until May 12, 2026.
Typhoon Lagoon, the fan-favorite hurricane-themed park, originally closed on Feb. 15 as part of Disney's seasonal refurbishment cycle. On that same day, Blizzard Beach reopened after shutting down for its maintenance cycle in September.
This annual maintenance cycle is designed to have at least one of the Disney waterparks open at all times. Both parks will be open through the summer months in Florida.
Typhoon Lagoon is Walt Disney World's oldest operating waterpark, featuring one of the largest wave pools in the world.
The closure of Typhoon Lagoon is strictly for "mechanical and infrastructure maintenance." The park is not undergoing any "creative reimagining," according to a report from InsideTheMagic.
"Guests should not expect any significant changes to Typhoon Lagoon's core identity or attractions when it reopens," InsideTheMagic reports. "The permit reflects routine maintenance, and when the park comes back online in May, it will be the same Typhoon Lagoon guests know, refreshed and ready for a full summer of operation."
Until Typhoon Lagoon reopens on May 12, Disney waterpark enjoyers can pivot toward Blizzard Beach.
"Guests with flexibility in their travel dates who have Typhoon Lagoon as a priority should consider shifting their trip to after May 12," InsideTheMagic added. "The park will be freshly maintained and fully operational."
