Charcoal-Colored Maine Coon's Colossal 'Hulk Hands' Look Like Giant Rocks
With millions of cats wandering the planet at any given time, it takes something really special to stand out. Breeds with wildly distinct features like pointy ears, rare, coiled, curly fur, or chimera split-face coloring are instantly memorable because they don't look like the rest. For a Maine Coon named Sampson, it's all about his gargantuan paws that rival a Grizzly Bear's any day!

Now Introducing Him - Fat Cat
Even by Maine Coon standards, Sampson's colossal polydactyl paws are remarkably gigantic! To say his "hands" resemble huge rocks is an understatement, because they're massive. He 100% would give Hulk a run for his money if they sat side by side (not that Sampson's worried one bit!), and all he's doing is existing, gracing us all with his presence.
When you're an XXL unbothered kitty king who charms the masses with one video highlighting your big paws, you can get away with whatever you want. As a majestic Maine Coon, Sampson may look intimidating, but his personality is anything but that. He's a total sweetheart who enjoys climbing and exploring, playing with his favorite humans, and being a huge cat.

The Size of Maine Coon Paws Serves a Specific Purpose
As adorable as Sampson's "hands" are, experts explain there's a reason they're larger than average cat paws. Maine Coons were originally bred to endure cold and bitter New England weather.
To navigate rugged, rocky terrain in the ice and snow, they were blessed with naturally wide, tufted snowshoes that helped distribute their weight evenly so they wouldn't sink. Even more, they're insulated to ensure those beans are protected.
As large as the paws seem (and they are), they're proportional to each kitty's body, which is also bigger than the typical Domestic Cat. The breed is also more likely to be polydactyl-which means having extra digits-to help with balance and traction.
All of this to say, Sampson is one handsome boy who's easy on the eyes, but it's even more special knowing his larger-than-life features serve specific purposes. Nature is so cool!
