Tears As Husky Mix Waits 170 Days in Shelter for Family Who Left Her Behind
A young Husky/border collie mix named Roxy has captured hearts on social media after a quiet moment in her kennel revealed just how long she has been waiting for love to find her again.
In a TikTok shared in April by Jackie Gonzalez, a volunteer at the Valley Animal Center in Fresno, California, under the username @jjack.iie, the dog can be seen sitting patiently sitting inside her kennel like a good girl.
With her bright blue eyes fixed on the shelter door, Roxy remains still, watching closely as if each movement might signal someone arriving just for her.
The caption says: "Waiting for a family that isn't coming back… Just watching every door, hoping today is the day," followed by, "Meet Roxy… 170+ days… and no one has come for you."
According to Gonzalez, Roxy has been at the shelter for far too long, spending her days on a kennel floor surrounded by noise and stress.
The environment has worn on her, making it harder for her to relax and simply be a dog, though her personality is still very much there. Despite everything, Gonzalez said, Roxy's spirit has not faded and is just waiting for the right person to bring it out again.
Roxy is described as a high-energy Husky/border collie mix who needs an active home. She would do best with someone who enjoys staying busy and spending time outside. Gonzalez said Roxy loves people and is eager to form a close bond with a family of her own.
She is dog-friendly, with a particular affection for male dogs, and can also live with female dogs after slow introductions. With patience and proper introductions, she can be cat-friendly as well.
Roxy is smart, athletic, and full of potential, but she needs time to decompress and adjust to life beyond a kennel.
As other dogs leave the shelter, Roxy continues to watch, waiting for her turn. The stress of kennel life has been hard on her, and Gonzalez emphasized that she truly needs to get out as soon as possible. Roxy is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. Her adoption fee is $75.
The video struck a chord online receiving more than 4,467 views and 781 likes on TikTok.
One user, Annamarilù, commented: "Hope you find a wonderful home sweet pup! Hope interacting helps these beautiful baby!"
