Wrinkly Basset Hound Puppy's Stair-Climbing Attempt Is Stealing Hearts
If there's anything more precious than puppies with wrinkly, chunky legs, I don't know about it! Some stumpier breeds are more prone to exaggerated wrinkles, which only makes them more crush-worthy. When Franklin, the Basset Hound puppy, attempted his first stair climb as a young pooch, his floppy, adorably wrinkled legs and ears were ALL the rage!

I take back what I said before-there is something cuter than a wrinkled puppy, and it's watching one like Franklin give the staircase their all! The cute video that showcases all the baby Basset Hound's folds and wrinkles may be a throwback to his younger years, but we're not complaining. In fact, more of these on the web would be much appreciated!

As a puppy, Franklin had everything going for him-that much is apparent. But it delights me to share that as he's grown into an adult, he has never lost his pizzazz. Thankfully, all those wrinkles only became deeper and more pronounced (look at those legs!).

About Basset Hound Wrinkles
You can instantly spot a Basset Hound like Franklin, if only for those epic wrinkles. As amazing as they are, they're a breed hallmark caused by excess skin that once had a purpose: trapping scents on the ground to better perform their tracking duties.
Puppies are born with this excess skin, but the adult wrinkles form around 1 -year-old and take up space under the neck (the dewlap), on the forehead, face, and of course, those legs. All wrinkles aren't created equal, either. European Basset Hounds typically have more defined wrinkles and loose skin.
Having a dog like this comes with the responsibility of making sure to clean beneath the folds well and to dry them thoroughly to prevent infections. Aside from that, what a blessing it is to watch a cutie like Franklin navigate the stairs and the world as the cutest boy around!
