Conemaugh appoints structural heart medical director

Conemaugh Health System has appointed Dr. Amanpreet Sherwal as structural heart medical director.

He will provide clinical leadership and oversight for structural heart services, including transcatheter valve therapies and other minimally invasive heart procedures.

Sherwal will lead the multidisciplinary structural heart team, oversee quality and regulatory compliance initiatives, guide program development and help evaluate emerging technologies.

He is a board-certified cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon who earned his medical degree from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

After completing his surgical internship at MedStar Health in Baltimore, Sherwal returned to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center to complete his surgical residency in 2015.

In his new role, Sherwal will help shape the future of structural heart care at Conemaugh by fostering collaboration among cardiology, cardiac surgery, imaging, anesthesia, nursing and support services while maintaining a focus on quality, safety and clinical excellence.
