With almost a dozen speedways nearby, auto racing fills spring, summer and early fall weekends with action and activities — from local dirt tracks to Sprint Cup stars at Pocono Raceway. It’s a family-friendly activity, too.

1. BEAVER SPRINGS DRAGWAY

Located: Beaver Springs, off state Route 235.

Track: Quarter-mile dragstrip

Schedule: Weekends through Nov. 8. Street racing Friday nights, general admission $5; IHRA Summit Super Series events Saturdays and Sundays, general admission $10.

2. BEDFORD SPEEDWAY

Located: Bedford Fairgrounds, Bedford, off state route 30.

Track: 5/8-mile mile dirt oval

Schedule: Weekends through Sept. 19; late models and street stocks; general admission $12 and up

3. CNB BANK RACEWAY PARK

Located: 111 Mount Zion Road, Clearfield

Track: Five-eighths-mile asphalt

4. HUMMINGBIRD SPEEDWAY

Located: Off state Route 950 between Reynoldsville and Falls Creek.

Track: One-third-mile dirt oval

Schedule: Saturday evenings through Sept. 6; steel block late models, street stocks, pure stocks, front-wheel drive four-cylinders; adult general admission $10, children 6-10 $5, under 6 free..

5. JENNERSTOWN SPEEDWAY

Located: in Jennerstown at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and state Route 985

Track: .522-mile asphalt oval

Schedule: Saturday night races in five classes through Aug. 29. General admission $10; Seniors, students, military $8; children younger than 12 free.

6. LINCOLN SPEEDWAY

Located: 800 Racetrack Road, Abbottstown (15 miles west of York)

Track: Three-eighths-mile dirt oval

7. PATH VALLEY SPEEDWAY

Located: 17911 Dry Run Road, Spring Run

Track: Quarter-mile dirt oval

8. POCONO RACEWAY

Located: Long Pond Road, Long Pond

Track: 2.5-mile trioval (NASCAR and IndyCar stops).

Schedule: Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 (Spring Cup series), June 5-7, grandstand level tickets starting at $45; Pennsylvania 400 (Sprint Cup series), July 31-Aug. 2, grandstand level tickets starting at $45; ABC Supply 500 (IndyCar series), Aug. 22-23, grandstand level tickets starting at $25.
