Postsecondary schools
We are Penn State, but when it comes to higher learning, we are so much more. Here are descriptions of postsecondary programs:
CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The institute offers industry training and day and evening courses, as well as online and distance-learning opportunities. Courses are available in a range of fields, including emerging energy, diesel technology, HVAC, welding, heavy equipment operations, and many health-related fields, such as practical nursing and dental assisting. CPI also offers 18 career and technical education programs to 10th-, 11th- and 12th-graders from the Bald Eagle, Bellefonte and Penns Valley area school districts. CTE programs available to secondary students fall into industry or career clusters and include transportation, medical, services and construction.
DUBOIS BUSINESS COLLEGE

The college opened a location in Philipsburg in spring 2014. It offers Associate in Specialized Business degree and diploma programs that can be completed in as little as 18 months.
EMPIRE BEAUTY SCHOOL

The cosmetology school offers nine start dates each year and certifies students in 1,260 hours, more than the minimum required by the state Board of Cosmetology. The program can be completed in 42 weeks.

Licensed by the state Department of Education, the school offers a 640-hour program that can be completed in eight months, full time. Loans and shorter programs are available.

South Hills School of Business and Technology is a two-year postsecondary career school that offers specialized associate degrees and diploma programs in accounting, administrative medical assistant, business administration — management and marketing, business office specialist, criminal justice, diagnostic medical sonography, engineering, information technology, graphic arts, health information technology and medical assistant. South Hills is fully accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools and has additional locations in Altoona and Lewistown.
