Licenses serve as a tool for returning lost dogs to their owners. People who do not buy a license for their dog may be fined $300 plus court costs.
• Licenses for males or females that have not been spayed or neutered cost $8.50, or $6.50 for owners who are senior citizens.
• Licenses for spayed or neutered dogs cost $6.50, or $4.50 if the owner is a senior citizen.
• Lifetime licenses are also available but must be arranged for at the Centre County Treasurer’s Office (355-6810). Owners must be prepared to go to a veterinarian to have the dog tattooed or microchipped.
