When an emergency arises, one or more of Centre County’s local volunteer fire departments are called to the rescue. Here are important facts about each.

ALPHA FIRE COMPANY

Total members: 120

Active members: 116

Budget: 1.7 million dollars

Main fundraisers/revenue: Taxes (an donations every other year)

Equipment: Four engines, one quint, two aerial trucks, one rescue truck, two tankers, one command unit, two utility trucks, an ATV and the region’s foam trailer.

Service area: State College; Ferguson, Patton and College townships and part of Benner Township; University Park campus. Main station at 400 W. Beaver Ave., State College, and satellite stations on Green Tech Drive and at the College Township Municipal Building at 1481 E. College Ave.

BOALSBURG FIRE COMPANY
