Bicycle Shop hits 70 years in stride
Editor’s note: This story is part of the Eat, Play, Live special section.
Q: What do you offer the community?
A: We offer great quality, reasonably priced bikes along with friendly, professional service. We also offer high quality fitness equipment and repair.
Q: What’s the best thing about your location?
A: Our building used to be a butcher shop and a grocery store. The meat hooks are still visible, and the tin ceiling is still there. People have come in and offered to buy our ceiling. Our downtown location is close to campus, and we do have on-site parking.
Q: How long have you been around?
A: This is the Bicycle Shop’s 70th year in business. (It was) started in 1946.
Q: Why is Centre County a great place to play?
A: You can’t ask for a better place to ride. It is a dairy valley so all the little back roads are paved nicely, and we were recently named the mountain bike capital of Pa. Our trail system is second to none.
Q: What’s on the horizon for the coming year?
A: A 70th year celebration sometime this summer and expansion of our fitness business.
