Find the perfect addition to your garden at the Centre County Master Gardener Plant Sale
Over the years I have had the pleasure to interact with the Penn State Extension Centre County Master Gardener programs and to promote their Annual Plant Sale, which is another great gardening event. This year Dominique Donaho contacted me with information about their upcoming 25th Annual Plant Sale, which is to be held on May 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Penn State Ag Progress Days site off state Route 45, nine miles southwest of State College.
Visitors should use entrance K, and parking and admission to the event are free. There will be more than 5,000 plants for sale. They will have a nice selection of vegetables, herbs, native plants, houseplants, flowers, trees and shrubs and a lot of expert gardening advice available from the Master Gardeners. For more information and the available plant list visit tinyurl.com/CentrePlantSale. The variety of plants available is truly amazing and I am sure that you will find there are plants for your gardens.
The nice thing about this event is that Master Gardeners will be on hand to help with plant selection and to answer questions on planting, insects and caring for your plants and gardens. In addition, there will be gardening presentations, activities for children, a silent auction, and a garage sale of gently used gardening items.
The Pasto Agricultural Museum, located nearby, will be open during the Plant Sale. The museum has approximately 1,300 rare and unusual farm and household items dating from 4,000 BC to the 1940s, or more than 6,000 years! Visitors can learn about early farm life as our nation grew while gaining hands-on experience with the history of agriculture and household equipment by turning the cranks and moving levers.
The Annual Plant Sale is the main fundraising event for the Centre County Master Gardener program. Trained by Penn State Extension, Master Gardeners are volunteers who offer area residents research-based educational programs in consumer horticulture and caring for the environment. Proceeds from this event will help the Centre County Master Gardeners continue to offer outreach and gardening education to the public.

I can personally attest that the Master Gardeners are indeed a fun group that share the love of gardening and certainly give back to the community through their various gardening projects.
