Electronics recycling

The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority has an electronics recycling drop off located in building E next to the Transfer Station at 253 Transfer Road, Bellefonte. To recycle your electronics, go through Gate 1 toward the scale. The scale operator will direct you to the drop-off location. The Transfer Station is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday. This is a free service for Centre County residents. It is illegal to dispose of electronics with other trash.

Scrap metal and appliances

Scrap metal and appliances are also accepted at the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority’s Transfer Station. These items may be dropped off free of charge and include: air conditioners, dehumidifiers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, furnaces, electrical heaters, water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, stoves and ovens.

Wood scrap

We have added wood scrap to our recycling program at a discounted rate of $35 per ton. Acceptable wood scrap includes clean wood/timber, untreated/unpainted wood, wood pallets, yard trim (brush), tree stumps no larger than 24 inches in diameter and empty cable spools. Our scale operator will direct you to the proper drop-off location.

Vinyl siding

We also accept post-consumer vinyl siding in building E next to the Transfer Station at a discounted rate of $20 per ton. To qualify for this reduced rate, the acceptable load should include only the following: vinyl siding, corner posts and J-Channel.

We cannot accept a load of vinyl siding at the reduced rate if it includes any of the following: vinyl shutters, vinyl with insulation attached, organics, paper, wood, plastic, metal or glass. Loads containing any of these items will be charged the normal municipal solid waste tipping fee of $67 per ton.
