Recycling: Bulk waste collection, miscellaneous plastic and other changes to know about this fall
There are a few changes in the trash and recycling business this fall. Each change is outlined below. If you would like to follow our social media pages, we do keep them up to date with changes as they occur. They are a good resource to stay abreast of the latest trash and recycling news. We have accounts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter if you are so inclined to give us a follow.
Miscellaneous Plastic Collection Container Change
To keep up with the amount of miscellaneous plastic recycled, we have changed containers at four of our miscellaneous plastic drop off locations. If you recycle your miscellaneous plastics at the Patton Township, Hamilton Plaza, Bellefonte CVS or Snappy’s Centre Hall locations, you will notice that the red containers for miscellaneous plastic have been replaced with gray collection containers. The gray containers are clearly labeled and have an opening big enough for the miscellaneous plastics we accept. There are signs on each container with the miscellaneous plastic “yes” and “no” list. Please check the signs to make sure the plastic you are recycling is accepted in our program and do not leave items outside of any of our recycling containers.
COG Fall Bulk Waste Collection Week Change
If you live in the townships of Benner, College, Ferguson, Harris or Patton, you know that fall Bulk Waste Collection Week was postponed. The Centre Region Council of Governments has announced the make-up date for this twice a year collection event. The new dates for fall Bulk Waste Collection week are Dec. 13-17. Bulk Waste Collection will occur on your regular collection day. For details on how to prepare material for the collection event, visit www.crcog/refuse.
