Drivers should avoid College Avenue during homecoming parade, police say

State College police are advising drivers to be aware of traffic changes scheduled for Friday in accommodation of the Penn State Homecoming Parade.

The parade route will be closed to vehicle traffic from about 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., police said, and will impact College Avenue through downtown State College. No parking will be allowed on College from Garner Street to Atherton Street beginning at 4 p.m.

The parade will travel the following route:

▪ South on Bigler Road to Pollock Road

▪ West on Pollock to Shortlidge Road

▪ South on Shortlidge to College Avenue

▪ West on College to Burrowes Road

▪ North on Burrowes where the parade will disperse north of Pollock

Motorists may experience traffic delays during the time of the parade, police said. Drivers are encouraged to make alternate routes that does not include College Avenue during the parade time.
