One man died and two others are in critical condition after a shooting in North Philadelphia on Friday morning.
The Philadelphia Police Department responded to reports at 25th and Berks Streets around 2:30 a.m. to find three men suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said the three men were sitting on the front steps of the Johnson Homes, a Philadelphia Housing Authority property.
One man, 31, suffered gunshot wounds to the torso and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died. Two other men, both 26 years old, were shot and taken to Temple University Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
"Four of the spent shell casings were very, very close to where the victims were supposedly sitting," Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters.
Police know at least one bullet went through the front door of a nearby property. No one inside was harmed, police said.
There is no description of who shot the three men, or whether the shooter or shooters arrived on foot or by car.
