Deer hunt applications for Nolde Forest available starting July 20
Applications to take part in the annual permit-only archery deer hunt at Nolde Forest will be available starting July 20.
The annual hunt is held by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Applications can be picked up in the C.H. McConnell Classroom at Nolde in Cumru Township Monday through Friday until Aug. 21.
Prospective hunters must submit their applications, signed and dated hunter agreement and self-addressed stamped envelope by 4 p.m. on Aug. 21.
Hunters will be selected through a lottery during the week of Aug. 24. Successful applicants will be notified by mail.
All hunters selected through the drawing will be required to attend a mandatory in-person hunter orientation on Sept. 15. Those who do not attend will be replaced by individuals on a waiting list.
To apply, hunters must have a current Pennsylvania hunting license, Pennsylvania Archery stamp and Wildlife Management Unit 5C antlerless deer license.
Selected hunters will be assigned to one of four hunt periods:
• Sept. 21 to Oct. 9.
• Oct. 13 to Oct. 30.
• Nov. 2 to Nov. 25.
• Dec. 28 to Jan. 22.
Sixteen hunters will be permitted each day of the first three periods. Twenty-two hunters will be permitted each day during the last period.
Hunting is not allowed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., or any time on weekends or holidays.
