Rockview state prison has new superintendent

There’s a new superintendent at Rockview state prison after the man formerly in that post was promoted.

Superintendent Mark Garman, who was a deputy superintendent at the facility since 2013, assumed the top post there on July 27, according to a press release from the Department of Corrections. Garman is a 25-year veteran with the department and worked at other facilities near Centre County, including Huntingdon and Houtzdale state prisons.

Former Superintendant Steve Glunt, who took over at Rockview in late 2013, was promoted to regional deputy secretary for the Department of Corrections’ western region, Rockview spokesman Jeff Rackovan said.

The department is divided into three districts. Rockview is part of the central district.
