Two missing boys found under bush in Boalsburg

Two brothers who were reported missing in the Boalsburg area Tuesday morning were later located unharmed.

State College police said the boys, ages 7 and 9, were reported missing about 7:30 a.m., when their sister noticed they weren’t on their school bus. She notified their parents, who called police. They were last seen at their bus stop in Boalsburg. A CDT reporter eventually found the pair hiding under a bush about 50 yards from their house on Ashworth Lane at about 10:20 a.m. The reporter found a path to walk toward them and heard one of the boys say, “they found us.”

The boys said they were OK and stayed while the reporter called the police, who responded to the scene about a minute later. The boys later said they left the bus stop and hid because they didn’t want to go to school Tuesday.

Police never suspected foul play, but State College police Lieutenant Keith Robb said the department immediately formed a perimeter and began looking for the children. They notified state police and were prepared to bring a dog and helicopter in to help with the search.

“Whenever you have kids reported missing, especially this age group, we take it pretty seriously,” Robb said.
