The Salvation Army, of State College, welcomed four members to its advisory board — Doug Brown, of Northwest Bank, Craig Morrow, of 1st National Bank, Susan Bass, vice president of human resources at Penn State University and Michele DiMidio, a personal trainer and small business owner. This increases the number of advisory board members to eight.

Envoys Derek and Betty Ellen Barrett were also appointed as commanding officers at The Salvation Army of State College following the retirement of Majors Charles and Patricia Neidermeyer, who led the organization’s local operation for 15 years.

The Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership announced two recipients of its DuBois Business College-Philipsburg campus scholarships. Kristen Balliet and Steven Pollard were honored with the scholarship.

The MVEDP also said that five people — Jared Ricotta, Michael Kovalcin, Rusty Cristoff, Tom Scott and Jim Pollock — were elected for three-year terms on its board. All were incumbent members.

The partnership also elected new officers. Cristoff became president, Steve Lyncha the 1st vice president, Kovalcin the vice president, Laura Holden the treasurer and Pollock the assistant treasurer.

Paul Damaske, a family medicine physician with Geisinger-Gray’s Woods, earned the Degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

The AAFP Degree of Fellow recognizes family physicians who have distinguished themselves through service to family medicine and ongoing professional development. Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Damaske joined Geisinger-Gray’s Woods in September 2011.
