Madisonburg man killed in one-vehicle crash

A Madisonburg man is dead after a one-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Miles Township, state police at Rockview said.

A crash report said Ryan M. Lucas, 27, was driving west on state Route 192 “at a high rate of speed,” when his 2003 Subaru Impreza left the road, hit a culvert on its front passenger side and rolled for 333 feet after impact.

State police investigator Trevor Danko said Lucas was ejected from the car during the accident and was found about 35 feet south of the car.

The crash happened on East Madison Avenue nearly 250 feet east of an unnamed road.

Police said the driver was not wearing a seat belt when the crash happened at about 12:30 a.m.

Lucas was pronounced dead by a doctor at 1 a.m.

Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said Lucas died of chest trauma.

No one else was involved in the accident, police said.

Penns Valley EMS and Miles Township Fire Company also responded to the scene.

Police said they’re still investigating the incident.
