Construction for a Weis Gas-N-Go and Dunkin’ Donuts recently began off North Atherton Street.

The address slated for the development is 1400 N. Atherton St., though it is unknown when the new location will open. Weis Markets spokespeople declined comment for this story.

Plans for the development, which replaces a vacant lot, began in 2015 with a traffic study. The Dunkin’ Donuts will have a drive-thru lane, though there are 48 parking spaces, according to development plans.

Weis Gas-N-Go will feature four fueling stations. The Dunkin’ Donuts will be 2,539 square feet.

Access to Weis Gas-N-Go and Dunkin’ Donuts from North Atherton Street will be a right-in, right-out pattern, according to development plans. There will also be access to the site from the existing Weis Markets parking lot.

Boot camp fitness studio opens

If you don’t break a sweat walking up and down the hills of Bellefonte, a new boot camp fitness studio has you covered.

Victory Sports and Fitness in College Township carried out its first expansion Friday with a grand opening of a new facility at 102 E. Bishop St. in Bellefonte. There is a slight name change for the company’s second location — it will be called Empower Boot Camp Fitness.

“There really aren’t many other people doing this (in Bellefonte),” co-owner Rob Oshinskie said. “We felt like there was a big opportunity here after we talked to people in the area and asked them if this is the type of thing they’d be looking for, and we got a really good response.”

The studio will run on 30-minute to hourlong classes, taking place in the morning and afternoon. The classes will specialize in cardio, bodyweight workouts and improving strength and flexibility.

“The classes will accommodate a large spectrum of fitness levels,” Oshinskie said. “You could come in and be unfit and our coaches will adapt. Or you can come in at a really high level of fitness, and they can adjust the programs accordingly.”

Class sizes will begin at two to 10 people, though Oshinskie expects some class to grow to about 20 people.

The studio will not be accessible outside of classes. Interested participants can call at 206-9338, message the business on Facebook or use the Mind Body app to sign up for classes.

Oshinskie said Power Fitness will also be a part of the Miller Center in September when staff will train athletes in Lewisburg.

State College company expands

State College-based Goodco Mechanical Inc., acquired Bovard Heating and Cooling in June, according to a release.

Bovard, a 57-year family-run HVAC company, serves the Altoona area. The business is now considered a division of Goodco Mechanical Inc.

Goodco was founded in 2008 by Scott Good. All Bovard companies will be retained as a part of the acquisition.

“Goodco will now be able to provide its first rate 24-hour HVAC services to even more residential and commercial clients in central Pennsylvania,” the company said in a statement.

The State College company earned the 2016 CBICC Small Business of the Year award, 2016 Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating Innovative Design award, and the Bryant Circle of Champions award for three consecutive years.
