State College to get new cocktail lounge and restaurant in former Old State Clothing building

A new cocktail lounge and restaurant is coming to State College, according to signs posted on the outside of the former Old State Clothing Company store at 101 E. Beaver Ave.

Construction has been going on in the space for months. Contractor Christopher Kunes, who is in charge of the work, did not return phone calls requesting comment.

A public notice from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board shows the new venue will use The Phyrst Inc.’s liquor license.

A sign also indicates the new restaurant is hiring part-time and full-time positions with full-time benefits available. Interested applicants should apply at Local Whiskey, it said.

Old State Clothing Company closed its Beaver Avenue location in summer 2018 and the building has remained virtually empty since. However, in September 2018, a Penn State graduate brought a pop-up shoe and clothing store to the space called “Glausangeles.”
