Centre County car dealership underpaid former manager’s commission, lawsuit alleges

A former sales manager who worked at a dealership in College Township for about a decade filed a federal lawsuit Friday against his former employer.

James O’Connor alleged Blaise Alexander underpaid his commission between 2017 and May, when he resigned from his position. His commission was underpaid by more than $75,000, attorney Michael Bradley wrote in the 10-page lawsuit.

Bradley declined comment Wednesday. The company could not immediately be reached.

The dealership at 1080 E. College Ave. hired O’Connor in 2011 and promoted him to sales manager six years later, according to the lawsuit. He was paid a monthly commission based on a scaling percentage of his gross profits.

The company was accused of either miscalculating or manipulated the formula. Some wholesale profits and other payments were “routinely omitted,” the lawsuit alleged.
