Here’s a look at the former Bellefonte armory property, set to become a brewery & more

The stable that sits on the former Pennsylvania National Guard Armory property in Bellefonte hasn’t been used in more than a decade, but the faint, distinct smell of horses remained Wednesday.

That smell will be long gone by the time an ownership group led by local businessman Duane Reese renovates the building into a taproom, though many of the building’s other features are expected to remain.

That includes the brick that makes up the building’s walls, the wood block flooring and the beams that stop the roof from caving in — at least if Reese gets his way.

His group purchased the property Monday for $950,000. A brewery, distillery, restaurant and bar are also planned. Reese refrained from floating a potential opening date, in part because fairly extensive renovations are needed.

You don’t have to just take his word for it. Below are photos from each of the three buildings that sit on the property. Take a look at what Reese hopes to turn into a “destination.”
