Pizza Hut will open new location in Hills Plaza on South Atherton Street, close current spot
Oct. 2 update: Pizza Hut will close the doors to its 760 S. Atherton St. location after Monday and will open the Hills Plaza location on Oct. 10, a company representative said. The following story from August has been updated.
Pizza Hut is moving its State College restaurant a few blocks south.
ARC Restaurants has been operating the Pizza Hut at 760 S. Atherton St. since 2003, but the lease there is up and franchise owner Roger Gates said they’re taking the opportunity to move to a more modern facility. The South Atherton location has been a Pizza Hut since 1970.
The Atherton Street restaurant will close once the new location opens. The Hills Plaza store will offer only delivery and carryout options.
The new location will be next to Jersey Mike’s in Hills Plaza, Vita & Vita Realty Corp. President Tony Vita said.
Pizza Hut also has Centre County locations at 372 Phoenix Ave. in Bellefonte and 952 N. Front St. in Philipsburg. Two years ago, the Bellefonte Pizza Hut, which is also run by Gates and ARC Restaurants, took a similar path. The restaurant moved from Bishop Street to a more modern location on Phoenix Avenue that offers only carryout and delivery.
Elsewhere in Hills Plaza, Vita said Spirit Halloween has opened for its seventh year of business there. The store is located next to Giant.
