New restaurant brings a taste of Philly to State College, with delivery options and more

A new cheesesteak shop is bringing a piece of the Philadelphia food scene to downtown State College. Campus Steaks held its grand opening Monday at 119 S. Pugh St.

The restaurant’s menu includes cheesesteaks and chicken cheesesteaks with a choice of Cheese Whiz, American, provolone or Cooper Sharp, onion rings, fries and chips. The shop’s website lists its hours as 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday and Wednesday (closed Tuesday), 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Thursday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday.

Ahead of the opening, they received a delivery of 1,500 pounds of Black Angus ribeye and “the true Philadelphia roll” from Liscio’s Bakery, according to a Facebook post. (Here’s another example of Liscio’s Philly cred: The bakery’s breads and rolls are served exclusively at Citizens Bank Park.)

The store also offers delivery and options for tailgating and catering.

Campus Steaks, whose sign features the Liberty Bell and the slogan “It’s a Philly Thing,” opened in the former location of Bradley’s Cheesesteaks & Hoagies.
