Philly’s iconic Pat’s Steaks reportedly sets sights on Centre County location

Philadelphia’s legendary Pat’s Steaks is planning a location in the State College area.

Owner Frank Olivieri will expand the family business with a Pat’s Steaks at Penn State, Philadelphia magazine reported. The exact address and opening date were not specified.

The magazine said Olivieri will partner on the new location with Rob Wasserman, who is already involved in the State College restaurant scene with Snap Custom Pizza and Big Dean’s Hot Chicken. Wasserman told the CDT in an email that they are still working out the details.

“If it works out well, we plan on opening throughout the country,” Olivieri told Philly Mag. “But not franchises. By opening these the way we are, it allows me to keep an eye on the shops more than I could if they were franchises. Franchises come with all sorts of rules and regulations. And you lose some control.”
