This Centre County Sheetz has reopened after months of renovations. Here’s what’s new
Following more than five months of renovations, one of the Bellefonte area’s busiest gas stations is back open for business.
Sheetz, located at 2850 Benner Pike, reopened to customers on Friday, following a complete demolition and rebuild.
The renovations, which started on July 7, were done to replace the store’s former layout, and to bring some upgraded features to the gas station.
These features include upgraded indoor and outdoor seating areas, a new car wash, a fueling station that can fit up to 12 vehicles, and a drive-thru — something that this Sheetz location hasn’t offered before.
Employees were offered positions at nearby Sheetz locations while the rebuild was being completed.
Aside from the Sheetz renovation, the Benner Pike has been experiencing a boom in development plan submissions and construction projects in recent years, with two hotels — a Tru by Hilton and a dual-brand Avid and Candlewood Suites — being built along the roadway next to G. M. McCrossin, and at the corner of Benner Pike and Amberleigh Lane, respectively.
A new McDonald’s — located next to the Giant that opened in 2022 — opened this year, and plans for an Arby’s and a fulfillment center warehouse are in the works as well.
Sheetz’s Pennsylvania-based rival Wawa has also submitted plans to construct its first gas station in Centre County, directly across from the newly-renovated building.
The new Sheetz will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
