Centre County grocery, liquor stores will shift hours for Christmas. When do they close?

The holiday season is finally kicking into high gear with Christmas, Hanukkah and other seasonal celebrations right around the corner. But if you’ve got last-minute shopping on your to-do list, you’ll need to watch out for modified hours at local stores.

While many Centre County grocery stores plan to close entirely on Christmas Day, others will also roll out adjusted hours Tuesday for Christmas Eve.

Here’s a brief overview of the planned holiday hours for grocery markets and liquor stores throughout parts of Centre County. Some schedules and services may vary by location, so make sure to check with your preferred site.

Aldi

All Aldi stores — including 1798 N. Atherton St. and 780 Benner Pike in State College — will close at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve and close entirely on Christmas Day. The company’s stores are set to close at 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and stay closed on New Year’s Day.

Fine Wine & Good Spirits

All Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores will close at 4 p.m. Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day, according to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. All four stores in the State College area — 127 Southridge Plaza, 230 W. Hamilton Ave., 1682 N. Atherton St. and 323 Benner Pike — reopen with regular hours Thursday.

Giant

All Giant stores are open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, while pharmacies will close at 4 p.m. Stores and pharmacies are closed entirely on Christmas Day before opening for regular business hours Thursday.

Sam’s Club

State College’s Sam’s Club, located at 381 Benner Pike, plans to close at 6 p.m. Tuesday before staying closed on Christmas Day. Regular club hours resume Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Target

All Target stores — including locations at 315 Colonnade Blvd. and 201 W. Beaver Ave. in State College — are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Christmas Eve and closed entirely on Christmas. Both area stores are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday.

Trader Joe’s

State College’s Trader Joe’s, located at 243 Patriot Lane, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Eve before closing all day Christmas Day. Regular hours from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. return starting Thursday.

Walmart

Both State College Walmart stores — 1665 N. Atherton St. and 373 Benner Pike — are scheduled to close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day. They return with regular hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. starting Thursday.

Weis

All five Weis stores in Centre County will operate from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Eve before closing entirely on Christmas Day. Three of the company’s stores — in Bellefonte (170 Buckaroo Lane), Philipsburg (501 N. Centre St.) and State College (560 Westerly Parkway) — are open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., while the other two stores at 1471 Martin St. and 110 Rolling Ridge Drive in State College normally operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., respectively.

The three Weis pharmacies in the area — located at the company’s stores in Bellefonte, Philipsburg and Rolling Ridge Drive in State College — are open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day.
