Summer is here. See Memorial Day hours for Centre County’s grocery, liquor stores
Though it might not feel like it thanks to chilly temperatures in Pennsylvania, the unofficial start to the summer season is almost here with Memorial Day just days away.
Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 26, this year. Most stores in the State College area are scheduled to operate under modified or reduced hours ahead of the holiday, so be sure to check your location of choice before heading out for last-minute barbecue essentials or gas for the grill.
Here’s a brief overview of the holiday hours for grocery markets and liquor stores throughout parts of Centre County. Be sure to check with your preferred location, as some schedules and services may vary by store.
Aldi
All Aldi stores, including its State College locations at 780 Benner Pike and 1798 N. Atherton St., will close at 6 p.m. on Memorial Day.
Fine Wine & Good Spirits
All Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores will close at 5 p.m. on Memorial Day, according to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. The four stores in the State College area — 127 Southridge Plaza, 230 W. Hamilton Ave., 1682 N. Atherton St. and 323 Benner Pike — will open with regular hours starting Tuesday.
Giant
Giant’s stores are open with normal hours on Memorial Day. The 2121 S. Atherton St. store and 255 Northland Center store in State College are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., while the 2699 Benner Pike store is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sam’s Club
All Sam’s Club stores, including the company’s location at 381 Benner Pike in State College, will close at 6 p.m. on Memorial Day.
Target
Standard business hours are in store for Target’s locations for Memorial Day. The 315 Colonnade Blvd. location in State College is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., while the downtown store at 201 W. Beaver Ave. is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., according to the company’s website.
Trader Joe’s
State College’s Trader Joe’s, located at 243 Patriot Lane, will run regular hours from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Memorial Day. Shoppers should note the store plans to change its daily hours to 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting June 2.
Walmart
Standard business hours are scheduled for Walmart, too. Both the 1665 N. Atherton St. and 373 Benner Pike stores in State College are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Memorial Day.
Wegmans
Centre County’s only Wegmans, located at 345 Colonnade Blvd. in State College, is open from 6 a.m. to midnight on Memorial Day. However, its pharmacy is closed all day on Monday, May 26.
Weis (Bellefonte)
This Weis store, located at 170 Buckaroo Lane in Bellefonte, is open with regular hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Memorial Day. Its pharmacy is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Weis (Philipsburg)
Philipsburg’s Weis, located at 501 N. Centre St., will run with regular hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Memorial Day. The pharmacy is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Weis (Martin Street)
This State College Weis, located at 1471 Martin St., will operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Memorial Day.
Weis (Rolling Ridge Drive)
This Weis, located at 110 Rolling Ridge Drive in State College, will operate under regular hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The pharmacy will open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.
Weis (Westerly Parkway)
This State College Weis, located at 560 Westerly Parkway, is open with regular hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Memorial Day.
