A beloved Pleasant Gap restaurant plans to close its doors this summer after more than eight years.
Little Mamma’s Pizza will begin reducing its operations over the next few weeks before turning off its ovens and shutting down sales after Friday, Aug. 8. The restaurant’s owners cited rising costs and other challenges in a Facebook post announcing the planned closure.
“After many sleepless nights, hard conversations and moments of self-blame for how this will impact our team and beloved community, we’ve made the difficult decision to step away, with our heads held high,” Little Mamma’s wrote on Facebook. “We won’t sugarcoat it — this hurts. Deeply. But we’re doing our best to focus on what we can do with the time we have left.”
While announcing plans to close, Little Mamma’s said ownership of its 105 S. Main St. property changed hands in July — a move the family-owned restaurant thought could help fix ongoing limitations like limited parking and outdated infrastructure. But staying in the space would be a challenge, the restaurant’s owners wrote online, because an immediate rent increase complicated efforts to maintain the customer experience and provide livable wages for employees.
Until its final day of operations on Aug. 8, Little Mamma’s plans to operate with regular hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays. Newly reduced hours will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The restaurant said it might simplify its menu to only oven-cooked meals and sandwiches as it nears the final week of operations. Little Mamma’s wrote it may also “roll out authentic tacos and homemade chips occasionally.”
Anyone with lingering Little Mamma’s gift cards and rewards points should use them before Aug. 8, when the restaurant’s online ordering platform will shut down.
Little Mamma’s will also continue its free summer youth meal program, which owner Lucio Perez launched in 2024 as a community initiative. The program might start winding down entering early August as well.
“That said, we will never turn away a child who needs a meal,” the restaurant wrote on Facebook. “That’s a personal promise.”
Though the restaurant will soon cease operations at its current location, Little Mamma’s hopes to find a new home in the Pleasant Gap area soon. Increased financial support — whether from direct contributions to the restaurant or a surge in orders over the next few weeks — will help Little Mamma’s secure storage for its equipment, cover closing costs and support its team, ownership wrote.
“We hope, when the time is right, to return in a new space — still rooted in the same passion, quality and purpose that built Little Mamma’s from day one,” Little Mamma’s said.
Little Mamma’s got its start at 113 E. College Ave. in Pleasant Gap but quickly moved across the street to its current location, where it has remained for nearly seven years. The restaurant’s menu features a wide range of pizzas, chicken wings, sandwiches, salads and pasta dinners.
“This place has been our life for over eight years,” Little Mamma’s wrote online. “We’re grieving what could have been growth, partnership, and continued service. But we’re also incredibly grateful and proud of every moment, every face, every slice, and every memory that will carry us forward.”
