An e-commerce business sued the Nittany Mall’s owner Thursday, claiming repeated neglect of a leaky roof caused more than $565,000 in damage to designer wristwatches and other inventory stored inside the State College-area shopping center.

Mark Harrison, who operates MRH Consulting, alleged the mall’s owner ignored multiple warnings about leaks in the roof, leading to extensive water damage that rendered his inventory unsellable.

Namdar Realty Group, a New York-based commercial real estate firm that owns shopping centers across the country, declined comment, citing a general rule to not comment on pending litigation.

Harrison said rainwater pooled in his space and caused several ceiling tiles to fall in March, significantly damaging inventory stored in boxes on the floor. The lawsuit also said water leaked into the space in December and February.

An inspection of the roof, according to the suit, uncovered evidence of several attempted repairs and widespread cracking. The filing also cited water stains on the ceiling, peeling plaster and paint, missing ceiling tiles and buckets used to collect water.

The lawsuit, which alleges two counts of negligence, seeks unspecified monetary damages.
