A Centre County hobby and crafts store plans to close after just more than a year in business.
Hobby Hour, located at 141 W. High St. in Bellefonte, will wind down its operations over the next few weeks before officially closing its doors. The shop will offer a 30% sale on all items on April 17 and 18 and a 60% sale on all items on April 24 and 25.
Owner Emily Tressler, a State College native and Penn State graduate, posted on social media to share her plans to close the store and transition out of the downtown space.
“This little shop has meant so much to me,” she wrote online. “It’s been filled with creativity, connection and so many special moments. I’m so grateful for everyone who has supported my little dream of Hobby Hour along the way.”
Tressler said the closure marks “a transition into something new” and promised to share more details in the future.
Hobby Hour opened in February 2025. The shop offers a wide range of craft kits, coloring books, puzzles, art supplies, board games and more for all skill levels, all while doubling as a welcoming space for collaboration and camaraderie.
“As someone who grew up in the area and is now at my age, a few years out of college, you’re in a weird time in your life when there’s a lot to do in the area, but you get stuck in routines,” Tressler told the Centre Daily Times last year. “I really wanted to find something catering to those looking for something else to do. This space, along with retail and selling craft kits, puzzles and games, will have opportunities for people to sit, bring their own crafts or buy one in the store and find a community space.”
