Another Dunkin’ is preparing to open in the Bellefonte area.
The national coffee shop chain is expected to occupy space in the former Rite Aid building at 821 E. Bishop St., according to Kandy Weader of Bennett Williams Commercial. She said the franchisees, who operate another Dunkin’ along Benner Pike, are working to submit plans soon ahead of an anticipated opening in the second half of 2026.
“This deal highlights the continued demand for quality retail in the area and the strength of the local market,” Weader wrote on Facebook. “Excited to see this location come to life and serve the neighborhood soon!”
Dunkin’ will take over an 1,848-square-foot space with a pickup window in the building’s western corner. It follows plans for the multi-tenant redevelopment of the property presented to Bellefonte’s borough council in January, which called for a 5,800-square-foot fitness center at the building’s rear, as well as a 1,920-square-foot restaurant, a 1,713-square-foot phone carrier store and a 1,694-square-foot sandwich shop.
Other planned tenants have not yet been identified for the property, which has sat empty since closing as a Rite Aid in late 2023. Cedar Cliff Properties, used by local Jersey Mikey’s franchisees Matt and Christie Patterson to open new locations, purchased the building for $1.5 million last year.
The new Dunkin’ will mark the second Bellefonte-area location, joining a franchise at 2825 Benner Pike. Centre County is also home to six Dunkin’ shops in State College, plus locations in Centre Hall and Philipsburg.
